ヨットとひとことで言っても、いろんな意味、カタチがあるそ～だ！
ヨットとは…。あらためて考えると説明のむずかしい言葉だそ～だ。ヨットとは、海や湖、川など水上の乗り物。本来の意味は、レジャーで使われる船のことで、比較的大きな船のことを言いい日本では、１〜２人乗りの船から、10人以上で乗るような大型船までをまとめてヨットと呼んでいる。海外でいうヨットとは少々ニュアンスが違う。欧米では、ヨット＝豪華な船、というイメージ！
日本人の目線に戻して、一般的にセーリングする船がなんと呼ばれるのかというと…
小さいタイプ＝セーリングディンギー
大きなタイプ＝セーリングクルーザー
ということが多いそ～だ。細かく分けようとすれば、もっと分類できるよ～だが、日本のヨットは上記２種類に分けられる、と考えて間違いよ～だ！
セーリングディンギーを略して、ディンギーとも言い、ディンギーとは、本来、櫓（ろ）やパドルで漕ぐような渡し舟、足船をさすよ～だ。。また、クルーザーとは、キャビン（客室、居住施設）付きのプレジャーボートを言い、そして、セーリングするものはセーリングクルーザーとなるわけだ！
